The Gettysburg Big Band will perform the next Music, Gettysburg! concert on July 21 at 6:00 pm. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will take place outdoors on the southern end of the campus in Schmucker Grove, behind 15 Seminary Ridge, Gettysburg.
This concert’s theme is "Legends of the Big Bands," featuring songs from fifteen of the most famous band leaders from the 30's forward, many played from the charts used by the original performers.
The Gettysburg Big Band is a traditional big band with 16 instrumentalists and 2 vocalists. They play tunes from the Great American Songbook, with charts dating from the late 20's to the early 70's. They play all the styles that ballroom dancers enjoy and more than 45 original Frank Sinatra arrangements. You’ll find them playing for dances, concerts and other special occasions, giving a total of 20-25 performances a year.
