Special Campaign Underway for Chapel Renovations
This past summer, the Seminary embarked on the first of a two phase renovation designed to bring the Church of the Abiding Presence up to date. The first phase was driven by the need to replace the original steam heat system with an efficient geothermal heating & cooling system. The new system will reduce the dependency on fossil fuels & preserve the wood & leather components of the organ, piano & harpsichord by stabilizing the chapel’s humidity levels.

Other improvements included a new floor & refurbished seating. The flooring was selected after a careful study of the acoustics predicted an enhanced sound experience by eliminating the carpet.

A second phase of renovation, not yet scheduled, will address the challenges of comfort & accessibility within the 70 year old building. Visitors soon discover the challenge of entering the building & finding adequate restroom facilities. Plans for the second phase include an elevator, with access to expanded & fully ADA compliant restrooms on the lower level. ADA compliant main entrances & lobby improvements will make it safer & easier to enter for all persons with physical challenges.

A campaign among Music, Gettysburg! audiences is well underway to help fund this great project. Call Jean LeGros at 717-338 –3009 or email jlegros@Ltsg.edu any time to learn how to participate.
