US Soldiers' Chorus

The Soldiers’ Chorus of the United States Army Field Band brings songs of freedom and the American tradition for a third time to the Music, Gettysburg! concert series.

The Soldiers’ Chorus is a 30 voice, mixed chorus with a repertoire ranging from Broadway to opera to the favorite music of Americana. The chorus was founded in 1957 and plays regularly at the White House between appearances in all 50 states. This is the chorus’ third appearance in Gettysburg.

Lieutenant Colonel John C. Clanton directs the chorus and brings long standing experience and training from the Robert Shaw Choral Institute and the Tanglewood Music Festival. A native of South Carolina, Clanton has received a Master of Music in conducting from the Eastman School of Music. He has served in the U.S. Army Band (Pershing’s own) and conducted the U.S. Army Chorus.
